The 2019 Collection
I invite you to explore a new collection of paintings where my animal and bird subjects are portrayed through a unique form of abstract realism. Every painting begins with one of my original photographs, which is first blended with my hand-painted texture backgrounds. After blending, the subject is then painted realistically using Procreate on my iPad. Finally, I destroy and alter the realistic nature of the painting using my custom designed, hand-painted abstract brushes, giving each work of art a range of interesting, energetic, and unexpected marks in vibrant, rich colors, complimentary to the subject. --Jai Johnson

Hello! I am Jai Johnson - animal lover, photographer, and artist. I love to spend my days out in nature with the birds and wildlife, or spend my time with any feathered or furry friend. I love to capture their moods, the unique expressions, that special little something each has which makes him or her unique.
Within the space of the artistic frame, my desire is to bring the casual observer to a point of personal focus with the subject. It is my goal with my images to make important what the normal eye may overlook, and to help the viewer establish a more personal relationship with the subject, while at the same time, loosen up and enjoy the freedom, the whimsy, the moods, and the energy my subjects offer.
