After being diagnosed with Alpha Gal {an allergy to all things mammal, caused by a tick bite} in 2019 and experiencing multiple allergic reactions to my traditional art supplies {yes, many art supplies contain animal ingredients!}, I had to stop using them in order to save my life. I was devastated, of course, but not wanting to give up, I found another solution.
There was this amazing painting program for the iPad called "Procreate". Even though I didn't have an iPad, I began to peruse work created by others in this application, and study how it was done. My daughter had an iPad, so I asked her to download it so I could try it out for myself. I knew as soon as I used the program, it was much easier to paint in than some of my previous programs {such as Corel Painter}, which I had used for many years. When I learned I was able to easily mask and blend my photos with my traditional painted backgrounds, and I learned how to paint my actual photos in the program, I fell in love with it quickly. I actually bought an iPad just to utilize this software! |
